Summary:
A teenage runaway takes part in a sleep study that becomes a nightmarish descent into the depths of her mind and a frightening examination of the power of dreams.

Ending:
Message on the phone appears saying if you're seeing this you've been in a coma for twenty years!! Don't know where they will see this message in their dream but they are working on new techniques and to wake the hell up!
Notes - Thoughts
Sleep study is about nero scientist that figured out way to decode dreams into a live action picture ( little pixelated but way more advanced than ever expect)
Dark shadow figures with glowing eyes keep coming through the dreams…just standing starring (as unconscious go, the sleep paralysis shadows through the movie seem to be an effective way of creating dread in her mind during the entire ordeal)
Everything was a dream from the start of her experiment:
the one person that she never meets is the head specialist of the emergency clinic, so it appears he exemplifies the whole idea of being the shadow part of that hypothesis, with his choices resounding in characters that can meet Sarah
the Zoe character appear to be a break for Sarah, yet sooner or later, for being excessively occupied with the rest explore, Sarah loses contact with Zoe (their last contact appear to be a call from Zoe while at the clothing)
count three cell phones through the film, in the hands the youthful researchers Jeremy and Anita (close the end) and Sarah's telephone - perhaps the telephones were her brain attempting to figure out correspondences she was getting from the rest of the world or how parts of her psyche would arrive at one another or her inside her fantasy
a few minor characters and occasions apparently irrelevant to her can't actually be if understanding this logic - when her rest bunch is attacked by rest loss of motion beasts should be visible as just her brain attempting to give setting of what's going on
as she watches Jeremy's dreams, since we know Jeremy is her, his dream is also part of her mind

Visuals of the dream-like states are very creative and impressive transitions. Lots of foreshadowing and random weird actions but they're all for a reason. Very different approach to sleep paralysis and insomnia, power of the mind goes way deeper than realize.
