Childer

Summary:  It tells of Mary, a single introverted mother, who suspects she and her young son are being stalked by feral children living in the woods surrounding her home. She spends her days obsessively cleaning trying to maintain order, and preventing her son from playing with the forest-dwelling children.

"Where do kids come from? "children come from a cabbage patch at the end of the garden"'

Already off the bat i'm creeped out, we get this random question and answer while the intro is going on. It seems like older woman just trying to keep kids off her property even though really just standing the woods. Trying to shoo them away, one yells at that she doesn't own the forest, now attempting to tell them go back home the one yells at that they are already home! I'm sorry what??

Little bit goes past and meet her son inside, also see she is this big neat freak. Son can't play with the childer because "they are dirty and nasty," watching the boy eat breakfast can't even focus on what saying because do worried gonna make a mess and be dirty. Even from one little drop of egg on the table.

We begin to see her start having these weird dreams where ends up in the woods with leaves and veins starting to cover her only to wake back up in bed. Pulling a leaf out of her garment not sure why holding onto it so dearly. Even now with son having nose bleed and being rude to mailman only cares about the bloody mess on the floor. Fast forward a little bit, she's back outside with the four children standing in the woods as one talks about how his sister kissed a frog once but she's dead now. Now when cleaning the tub appears some plant growing out the spout.

Now the son is outside playing until sees the four children but this time each wearing an animal mask linking hands with each other. Mother running outside comes to see no one or even her kid, coming back in she deep cleans herself in the tub scrubbing like crazy. Soon later son walks back inside all filthy and ordered to go upstairs instantly to clean up. Now in the bathtub looking terrified at the mother as she's scrubbing him clean soon begins to drown the little boy! Screaming "I told you not to play with those childer and get all filthy."

Next thing we witness is her bury a little ball into the cabbage patch in her garden and hear little boy chuckle out. Going back to what appears her normal routine, she makes her way outside to find the ball she burried now in front of the door, beginning to hear a humming sound and little kid laughter. The End.

So what actually happened and what did we just witness??

The ivy she dreams about and later finds in her bathtub drain represents the outside world. "we can't stop time or or the world from getting in"

The cabbage patch takes on a more sinister meaning. It's where she has burried multiple children. Kids laughing were taunting her throughout at her previous attempts at motherhood. They only last so long before they antagonize her by being too messy or filthy. then to be killed and buried in the patch only to reappear back in the woods later on. Could be viewed as spirits or paranoid delusions from her own guilt, appears to be a cycle of five years around Halloween appearing roughly all around the same age.

Animal mask on the kids in forrest were each symbolising predators - Cat / Fox / Wolf / Eagle who are also all carnivores (skilled hunters) embody the danger of anything outside her house or control.

This was an insane ride and really had to pay attention to piece together what was going on. Could already tell from the beginning something was off even with the mother but I don't think anyone was expecting for whats to come. The hidden messages and symbols throughout were very creative and make use your head what she is up to! Even gives off some physchological vibes feeling like were going crazy as her over these children in the woods. She's found a way to avoid her paranoia by destroying the source of it, but isn't able to run from her guilt. Could be why she repeatedly tries with a new child restarting the cycle over.
